CHRONIC PAIN

This includes a thorough assessment your current pain including the physical, mental and emotional impact of living with the pain and a review of the activities that increase and decrease pain.

A pain diary is introduced where you will keep a record of pain levels, activities, sleep etc. This information will give us material to review and plan interventions specific to your lifestyle.

The pain gate theory will be introduced and then treatment interventions some of which include:,

  1. exploring the link between automatic thoughts and pain levels
  2. being taught to identify negative thoughts and challenge them
  3. diaphragmatic breathing
  4. stress management
  5. diaphragmatic breathing, stress management
  6. stress management
  7. time-based pacing
  8. pleasant activity scheduling
