Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

OCD is an anxiety disorder in which people experience repeated intrusive obsessional thoughts followed by compulsions or urges throughout the day.

These urges can lead to compulsive behaviours such as

  • repeated checking,
  • ordering,
  • or arranging of items,
  • repeating specific actions a certain number of times,
  • or of compulsive hand washing.

Treatment for OCD will include the techniques described under Anxiety and will also include interventions specific to OCD which will be agreed during treatment.
